Funding and Partnerships Officer
We are looking for an outstanding fundraiser to build relationships and help achieve an ambitious income growth strategy across the range of our funding streams to resource United Purpose’s vision of harnessing disruptive innovation to empower poor communities around the world.
The postholder will work with colleagues across UP to build compelling cases for support and inspiring propositions and packages for different audiences ranging from our Individual Givers, High Net Worth Individuals, trust & foundations and corporate donor prospects. They will manage and lead identification of new funding approaches, working collaboratively with colleagues in our programmes team and country offices, to buildan existing prospect pipeline.
The postholder will initiate, develop and manage a portfolio of accounts and prospects, creating tailored strategies to manage relationships and deliver excellent customer service to maximise income and secure longevity of relationships. They will support the Head of Fundraising to deliver the HNWI programme including event support for the ‘seeing is believing’ international visit programme. Working with colleagues in the communications team, they will manage UP’s key donor communications such as e-newsletters, social media content or direct marketing campaigns. They will identify and secure new corporate relationships and partnerships in Wales, the UK and internationally. They will take a proactive approach to networking and represent the work of UP at events to members of the public and donors, where necessary delivering presentations. They will be responsible for commissioning and managing supplier relationships, together with managing volunteers and trainees. They will need to help ensure UP complies with all charitable fundraising legislation and keep abreast of key changes.
The postholder will need to have strong experience of fundraising in the third sector in as many different fundraising strands as possible; or have direct experience in some witha proven ability and enthusiasm to master others. They will need to be able to demonstrate a creative, innovative approach to fundraising in order to develop new income streams and diversify the fundraising mix within a small team – as well as being able to be a strong relationship manager, with excellent communication skills. They will need to have a track record in helping build strong partnerships and secure significant funding from corporates, individuals, and/or trusts and foundations, and have a provenability to influence stakeholders . They should be confident and persuasive, with a flair for creating inspiring proposals and pitches together with proven experience of giving donors and funders outstanding customer care. They need to have an energetic, creative, can-do approach. Knowledge of international development would be a significant plus, but is not essential; though an ability and keenness to get to grips with the issue and its funding context is.
Reports to: Head of Fundraising
Salary: £25-30k p.a. plus contributory pension.
Location: Cardiff; regular travel to UP offices in London and Bakewell.
