Marketing and Partnerships Officer
We are looking for an outstanding marketing professional to build United Purpose’s brand profile and communities of support across a range of audiences and products to grow support for UP’s vision of harnessing disruptive innovation to empower poor communities around the world.
The postholder will work with others to secure, support and project UP partnerships with NGOs, government, businesses and other stakeholders to advance UP’s goals. They will ensure the roll out, management and projection of UP’s brand across the UK and territories in which it operates, including the heritage of the brands with which it has merged (and any further future mergers). They will work with the Media and Editorial Officer to develop UP’s on-line communities of support in Wales, the UK and internationally – and generate / commission inspiring marketing and promotional material. To help do this effectively they will commission and manage audience research and insight – and translate these into actionable strategies and activities.
The postholder will develop and manage events to build and mobilise UP’s communities of support and partnerships, and project key messages – as well as helping to develop and deploy a range of high-profile / influential supporters who can help project UP’s brand and work to target audiences. They will develop and implement UP’s marketing and sales strategy to secure clients and income for UP’s paid-for services and social enterprise offering, including its in-house carbon offset business CarbonUP.
We are looking for a proactive enthusiastic promoter, marketeer, and brand champion. They need high levels of ambition, and be up for initiating and building new projects and approaches. They also need to be a great project manager and organiser with strong attention to detail and proven ability to plan and execute marketing, events and engagement initiatives – both on and off-line. They need to have a good feel for what really motivates a range of audiences – and how to harness this and build engagement to support UP’s objectives. They need creative flair and ideas on how to command the attention of a range of audiences and convert this into tangible commitment and engagement.
They must have real relish for selling a cause – and proven experience of doing it. Experience of organising events, such as conferences, meetings and receptions would be a real plus - as would knowledge of development, international affairs and environmental sustainability issues; though neither is essential. The ideal candidate would both totally get the not-for-profit world and working for a cause – but also have the focused drive to meet targets and grow sales, so might have developed this mix in the private, charity, social enterprise or public sectors.
Reports to: Head of Communications
Salary: £25-30k p.a. plus contributory pension.
Location: Cardiff; regular travel to UP offices in London and Bakewell.
