Meet our London Marathon 2021 Runners
#TeamUP
Claire
I’ve been actively running and entering events since my 1st 5k run back in 2014 and loved it. Since then I’ve had the bug for running and the distances have increased time after time.
With the pandemic halting almost all events over the last 18 months I’m now ready for a big challenge and it doesn’t get bigger than the Virtual London Marathon.
I’m running for UP which is a great charity and one I wholeheartedly support. The money we raise will help support the people who need it the most across the globe.
On the day I’m most looking forward to the challenge itself and pushing myself to run my first ever marathon!
What I’m dreading the most is hitting ‘the wall’, as they say! I just hope it has a door I can open and keep going....... 😊

The picture above is after one of my latest long runs which finished at Cosmeston Lakes parkrun.
I’m running for United Purpose as it’s a local based charity who support people and communities in need. It’s easy to forget during a Global pandemic there are people and communities who are needing our support more than ever before as we’ve been isolated in our own little worlds for the last 18 months.
Training has gone well and I’m looking forward to the challenge of my 1st ever Marathon.
The thought of crossing the finish line on the Mall brings out many varied emotions!

I am the Fundraising & Communications Officer at UP and am a keen runner and walker. I have an obsession with medals and the London Marathon one is amazing so I have decided to join #TeamUP and run in the virtual London Marathon with my friend Claire (left).
Claire and I decided to set ourselves a challenge of running a 30mile Ultra marathon in September and the virtual marathon in October, raising funds for UP. The ultra marathon went well until we got lost and added on 2 miles extra! It was a great run overall and hopefully it will be good training for the marathon.
I’m running for UP because I am proud to work for an organisation that is doing so much good across the world.

Running has always been a big part of my life. I run 7 days a week to maintain fitness and keep healthy
Training is going great, I have been completing high mileage runs and look forward to the challenge of running the marathon.
United Purpose has given me the opportunity to run one of the biggest races in the world and I look forward to completing the course in *hopefully* a pb time.
I am looking forward to the race day atmosphere. One of my good friends is also running the race for the first time so it’ll be good to share the experience.
I am dreading miles 20-26, the mileage that feels like another marathon!
