Commemorating Bangladesh's National Mourning Day

Comms Account
14 August 2023

National Mourning Day is a day of special significance in Bangladesh, as the country pays tribute on the anniversary of the death of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The offices of United Purpose will be closed as a mark of respect, as Bangladesh honours the indelible contributions of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family, and keeps his memory alive on the anniversary of his assassination, which occurred on 15th August, 1975.

United Purpose Bangladesh observed the National Mourning Day on 14 August 2023, a day before, with due solemnity. The program of the day was as follows:

  • Appropriate banners in line with the spirit of the mourning day were placed at the United Purpose Country Office Conference Room.

  • All staff of United Purpose were advised to wear black badges.

  • There was a discussion session in the Conference Room of United Purpose Country Office in Dhaka where all staff participated.

  • Field staff were advised to follow the program of respective district administration.

  • The country office event was participated by national and international staff including people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Photographs of the event being shared in the website, Facebook and WhatsApp group.

  • The event will be covered in the newsletter of the organisation being published soon.
